This guide is for you if...

You're ready to stop Googling and start flying.

You're planning your first flight with your dog

The airline policies are confusing, the requirements feel overwhelming, and you just want someone to walk you through exactly what to do — step by step.

Your dog is over the standard carry-on weight limit

Most people don't know there are airlines that allow medium and large dogs in cabin. This guide covers every option — including ones that might surprise you.

You have a pug, Frenchie, or other snub-faced breed

Yes, your dog can fly. The cargo restriction is real, but cabin travel is absolutely possible with the right airline and the right prep. Puglo has done it dozens of times.

You're wondering if ESA status is an option for you

ESAs are still recognised across Latin America and select carriers worldwide. This guide explains where, what you need, and how it changes what's possible for your dog.

Flying with a dog feels impossible — until it doesn't.

  • You've spent hours on airline websites only to find contradictory information
  • You're not sure if your dog's size or breed means they can't fly
  • You're terrified of showing up at the airport and being turned away
  • You don't know which documents you actually need or when to get them
  • The thought of putting your dog in cargo makes you feel sick
  • You've watched other people travel with their dogs and have no idea how they figured it out

Know exactly which airline to book

No more contradictory Google results. You'll have a clear framework for finding the right airline for your route, your dog's size, and your budget.

Arrive at the airport confident

You'll know what the agent will check, what documents to have ready, and what to do if something unexpected happens. No surprises.

Understand what your dog actually needs

Health certificates, microchips, ESA letters — you'll know what's required for your specific situation and how to get it sorted in time.

Help your dog travel calmly

Carrier training, travel day prep, and what to do on the flight to keep your dog settled and stress-free from home to destination.

Know your options if your dog is "too big"

Standard carry-on limits aren't the end of the story. You'll discover the airlines and services that change what's possible for larger dogs.

Stop leaving your dog behind

That's the whole point. This guide exists because leaving them behind shouldn't be the only option.

Lora and Puglo

Hi, I'm Lora — and this is Puglo.

I've been traveling solo for 17 years and visited 75+ countries. When I adopted Puglo as a foster (and spectacularly failed at the fostering part), I had no idea how to make a pug and a nomadic life coexist.

I figured it out the hard way — trip by trip, flight by flight, border crossing by border crossing. Puglo has now traveled to 17 countries with me, including long-haul flights across multiple continents.

Everything in this guide is what I actually do. Not theory. Not guesswork. The real system I use every single time we fly.

Questions

Is this guide only for small dogs?
No. The guide covers standard cabin travel for smaller dogs, but also dedicates a full section to airlines that allow medium and large dogs in cabin — including JSX, BARK Air, K9 Jets, and Vicuna Air. If your dog doesn't fit under a seat, you still have options.
My dog is a pug / French bulldog / brachycephalic breed. Can they really fly?
Yes. Puglo is a pug. We've done flights up to 16 hours together. The cargo restriction is real and important, but cabin travel is absolutely possible. The guide has a dedicated section on exactly how to make it work safely.
Is the airline database up to date?
The database is regularly updated and includes direct links to each airline's official pet policy page so you can always verify current requirements before booking. Airline policies do change, and we flag that throughout.
What format does the guide come in?
The guide is a beautifully designed PDF, and the airline database is a Google Sheet — both accessible instantly after purchase. No apps, no accounts, no expiry.
I'm based outside the US. Is this guide relevant for me?
Yes. The guide covers airline policies and weight limits across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia/Oceania. The airline database includes international carriers. ESA recognition by region is also covered.
I already have your airline database. Should I still get the guide?
Yes — the guide is what brings the database to life. It tells you how to use it, what to look for, how to book your dog on the flight, what to prepare before you go, and exactly what to do on travel day. The database alone won't answer those questions.
